Now taking on freelance projects

Hey everyone. As you all know, over the past year we've been busy working in partnership with Fused Technologies (part of the Fused Group) providing them with lead design and web accessibility services. It would be fair to say that it kept us more than busy, together with our own client web projects. It's been a great few months, and we thoroughly enjoyed working with the highly skilled Fused Tech team. However, all good things must come to an end and although we continue to work with Fused on specific projects, we are happy to announce we are now taking on Freelance projects again! As always, our web services remain the same and we continue to grow our partnership network to expand our products and services. We would like to apologise to all of our site users for the delay in the Cyonix website re-design!
For the past 3 months we have been consulting for Poptech (as well as Cyonix day-to-day operations) and have been responsible for most of Poptech’s designs, accessibility and site builds. We also admit that we haven't had much time to add recent work to the Cyonix portfolio (apologies to all clients who we told how imperative it is to keep content fresh!). However, we will be putting time aside in the near future to rectify all of the above and show you our shiny new work!
This aside, we are always looking to work with new people, so please feel free to contact us if you would like to disucss our web services.

Cyonix wins contract with Civic Action for WOMEN into public life web presence

Cyonix are proud to announce they have joined forces with London based CivicAction and Poptech to develop a web presence for 'WOMEN into public life'. The concept is a Tower Hamlets campaign to encourage more women in the community to increase the number of woman involved in public life roles.

Content Managed Solution for Venetian Plastering Expert

Cyonix and Kineta Systems have won yet another contract together! The project is to design a content managed web presence for Plaster by Design - local Ventian plaster specialists. The site will be constructed using the Drupal CMS with built in SEO features. More news to follow...

Sharon Lee returns from Babson College

Sharon Lee discusses the New Entrepreneur Transatlantic Scholarship at Babson College.
On arriving at Babson, we were given time to acclimatise and familiarise ourselves with the new surroundings of the Babson Executive Centre. The Babson grounds are a delightful mixture of leafy woods, tranquil ponds with a variety of native wildlife. It was a sunny St Columbus day, and the Babson grounds posed a beautiful contrast of falling autumn leaves and dazzling sunshine. There was a definitive aura of business excellence and high achievement within the centre, with evidence in the form of mounted portraits that told a thousand stories. 5 am at the gym was a picture of executives using exercise equipment powering up for the day and reading reports.
"Fasten your seatbelts its going to be a bumpy ride" were the exact words of the head of the European institute of Babson College on induction day. Our mentor Mike Gordon, a serial Entrepreneur himself explained that we were about to embark on a two week MBA style programme that usually spans over two semesters!

Cyonix Jets off to the States

Sharon Lee had been selected for the New Entrepreneur Transatlantic Scholarships (NETS-UK) - an MBA-style programme at one of the top business schools, the Babson Business College in Massachusetts.
Sharon will join 14 scholars from Northern England in a two-week executive programme on the attributes of an entrepreneur, how to find a competitive advantage, wealth creation and social entrepreneurship.

Greenweeks Rebrands and Relaunches

After the success of last years Greater Nottingham Greenweeks programme, greenweeks.org was revamped to reflect the natural progression of the initiative.
Again, Cyonix collaborated with Kineta Sytems to breathe new life and integrated features into the site.

PAS 78 Launched
March 2006
On 8 March 2006, PAS was the latest set of standards to be added to the list. PAS 78 has been issued by the Disability Rights Commission (DRC), working in collaboration with the British Standards Institute. PAS 78 is the Guide to good practice in commissioning accessible websites.
Website owners have a legal duty to make their sites accessible to disabled people. Alex Newson, a UK intellectual property & IT lawyer, writes an article for Cyonix and GAWDS on the law and on the Disability Rights Commission's new PAS 78 standard.

Cyonix shortlisted for Visionary Design Awards

Cyonix website has been shortlisted for the fourth annual Visionary Design Awards, highlighting organisations that have excelled in ensuring their web-based services are accessible to blind and partially sighted people across the UK.
The Visionary Design Awards are part of an ongoing campaign by the National Library for the Blind (NLB) to encourage website publishers and designers to consider the needs of visually impaired people when they are designing their sites. NLB estimates that less than a third of websites are currently accessible to visually impaired people who use technologies such as magnification, text to speech, and refreshable Braille in order to access web-based services.
